Tri Chapter is a unique blend of triangular and circular shapes, resulting in a geometric arrangement that is both sophisticated and innovative. The set includes a cup, saucer, and spoon, each piece reflecting the ethos of Mutuopia's design philosophy. The cup, made of 100% porcelain, showcases the aesthetics of geometric shapes in three dimensions. The triangular saucer provides a modern twist to serving tea or coffee, while the spoon, with its pyramidal counterweight, stands upright and fits perfectly on the saucer.
The design team at Mutuopia, consisting of Zhanling Feng, Xi Chen, Tiandi Zheng, Tao Shen, and Benjun Liu, have meticulously engineered each piece for optimal functionality. The saucer's corner is designed for easy and comfortable grip, while the spoon is perfect for stirring beverages or serving pastries. The cup, suitable for any table setting, shapes the liquid in a novel way, adding a touch of whimsy to the drinking experience.
Manufacturing the Tri Chapter set posed significant challenges, particularly in persuading Chinese manufacturers to combine traditional techniques with 3D printing technology. Despite initial resistance, the result was a success, producing the exact form desired by the designers and reducing production time. The cup is available in black matte glaze or transparent shine glaze, while the saucer and spoon are made of zinc alloy, coated with food-grade safe PVD in five different colours: blue, gold, rose gold, black, and silver.
The Tri Chapter tableware set is not just a collection of aesthetically pleasing objects; it is a testament to Mutuopia's commitment to innovation and design. The project, which started in April 2016 in Shanghai and launched for production in May 2017, has already garnered recognition. It was exhibited at the Salone del Mobile Satellite Shanghai in November 2016 and won the Silver A' Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design Award in 2018.
In conclusion, the Tri Chapter tableware set is a celebration of form, function, and the power of tranquillity in everyday rituals. It is a testament to Mutuopia's innovative design approach and a reflection of the team's dedication to creating products that not only serve a purpose but also enrich the user's lifestyle. With its unique blend of aesthetics and functionality, Tri Chapter is set to redefine the way we perceive and interact with tableware.
